I'm raising £10000 to help fund the improvement and delivery of signalling equipment for the Bala Lake Railway under the BLRS Golden Jubilee President's Appeal.

Bala Lake Railway Society President Peter Miller writes...
This year marks the 50th Anniversary or, indeed, the Golden Jubilee of the Bala Lake Railway Society, founded in 1973 at the request of the Railway Company to focus the efforts of both volunteers and supporters of the Railway. To mark this occasion, I consider that it is appropriate for the Society to do something significant in support of the Railway, and following the success of the first President's Appeal (which raised substantial funds and helped to secure the restoration of Llanuwchllyn signal box), I have proposed that we start a BLRS Golden Jubilee President’s Appeal to focus on the long term development of the Railway. I can think of many worthy potential projects to fund but, for me, one sticks out and, after consultation with BLR General Manager David Jones, it has been decided that the new President's Appeal will focus on funding the development the Railway’s signalling system.
There is much to be done, at Llangower, at Penybont - and also in preparation for the Railway's extension to Bala. So the need is great and the sums of money required are large. I propose that we set a target of £10,000 to create a purchase fund that can be used to buy equipment when it becomes available and to be used in Llangower's development. That's a significant sum of money, but if we can raise it over the next few years, we can help to ensure that the Railway has a heritage signalling system of which we can all be proud.
All donations are welcome - and thank you for your support.
