What is BabyStakes?

BabyStakes is a new innovative project set up to help new parents suffering from postnatal depression.

Why?

No parent should be left in the dark, especially at the beginning of their newborn's life.

Some parents are battling through unimaginable suffering with very little help available to them. Whilst some parents battle through successfully others continue to experience a sense of emotional unease for many years, some mothers are even put off by the idea of having another child.

We aren't alone, even the Singer Adele spoke openly about here experience when she gave birth to her son Angelo in 2012.

“I felt very inadequate; I felt like I’d made the worst decision of my life,” She told Vanity Fair. “I’m too scared [to have another child]. I had really bad postpartum depression after I had my son, and it frightened me.”

The Facts!

1 in 10 women suffers from pregnancy-related mental health problems, but fear stops them asking for help.

It's widely accepted that 1 in 10 men suffer from postnatal depression and as much as 13% of men experience depressive symptoms during their partner's pregnancy.

The arrival of a first baby from the point of the view of the father and mother is a massive shift and brings about considerable change.

BabyStakes exists to raise money to support new parents, raise awareness of support services available to parents, and provide a platform for sharing stories.

Once we have raised our target of £25,000 we will reach our objective and enter the second stage by developing a comprehensive website and an app.

We will be working to find the best charity who focus in on the area of mental health and supporting new parents. Watch this space!
