We're just bought a child into the world, Leif. He is born into a rich country, a country with stability, incredible medical care and great life chances.

He has everything he needs right now. Others are not so lucky. And rather than have people send us gifts or give us money for the child's arrival, we would much rather that our friends and family give to those who have the least: those fleeing war, poverty, drought.

There are many child refugees lost around the world, stateless, terrified, and facing a grim future. How to stop this seems a task beyond tasks. Yet we want to give a chance that might help an individual, a child that by sheer bad luck was born in circumstances well beyond our own baby.

All money raised here will go to East Midland Solidarity, a group that raises money on a local basis to benefit those around the world. Recently, they paid for a local firefighter to travel to Lesvos to rescue those making the perilous crossing. He recently was awarded a medal for exceptional public service after rescuing a drowning baby girl, Sewin. He made a difference, he saved a life.

Our baby will want for nothing. So please give what you can to those who have nothing.
