I am a 19 year old student who wishes to travel to Australasia, Fiji with GVI for 24 weeks in order to join a volunteering project that will endevour a range of activities such as constructing new homes and community structures for the locals, as well as teaching children at local schools.

Overall, the program aims to assist villagers to adapt their livelihoods in response to the changing pressures on traditional life due to both environmental and social change. GVI (the organization in control of the expedition) focuses on empowering communities by actively engaging important issues involved with the factors that inform their quality of life, such as access to fresh water, access to education, food security, and options for income generation.

Our aim is to help the local communities develop small income generating projects, assess environmental impacts, enrich available education, and solve basic infrastructure issues through improvements and new initiatives. In comparison to other areas of Fiji, this district is relatively untouched by tourism and there are few sources of income for the local community.
