Story
I will be running my first ever marathon on 23rd April 2017 at the Southampton Marathon. To mark the occasion I thought I would raise money for a good cause.
Shirley Warren Primary PTA are trying to raise enough money to get a class set of Chromebooks (30) that the school can use for each year group. Each one costs £180 and I would love to try and raise enough to fund as many of these as possible.
Jess Lott, the Computing Lead at Shirley Warren Primary wrote this for me:
At Shirley Warren Primary and Nursery School we are committed to bringing technology into the classroom; we feel that Chromebooks would be an asset to our children because they will boost students’ capabilities of learning anytime, and anywhere. Online access in classrooms significantly broadens the scope of any learning exercise, triggering information pursuit, creative thinking, communication, and collaboration.
Why Chrome books? With Chromebooks, teachers and students don't waste precious classroom time troubleshooting; they are lightweight, portable, boot up in seconds, and batteries last approximately eight hours. The books automatically update in the background and are always current.
To ensure children stay safe online, we will have control user access to the Chromebooks so that we can designate Apps which can be pre-installed or blocked. We will also be able to view usage, filter and monitor mail, and internet content.
Furthermore, Chromebooks enhance student communication and collaboration opportunities. Gmail, calendars, and google docs all allow students to connect with others. They allow the children to work together while completing group projects, reports, a power point, or videos. Access to work can be attained during school areas, in the library, or at home.
I would like to thank everyone in advance for supporting me in this cause.

8 years agoWell I did it in 4hrs and 45mins. Really hurt for the last 12k when the sun decided to come out and sap all my energy. Happy with my time though. Page will stay open for a few weeks if you would still like to make a donation.

I have been running for 4 years for OS Runners and have done a few half marathons so I thought I would give the full a go. I have two kids at Shirley Warren Primary so fundraising for them seemed a no brainier.
