    Story

I took over a large Animal Rescue in Co.Durham back in March this year. We have over 300 animals in our care here at Bildershaw Animal Rescue, We are staffed by a dedicated team of around 40 Volunteers. We offer a safe haven to every kind of animal you can imagine, we have Horses and Donkeys, farm animals like Pigs and Sheep, household pets like Cats, Rabbits and Dogs, a reptile section including Snakes and Monitor Lizard, we even have more exotic animals such as Raccoons, Coatimundi, Skunks and Meerkats. Owls, Parrots, Chickens, Axolotls, Tortoises.... providing we have the space we pretty much never turn anything away!

My dilemma is at the moment is that we run entirely on donations and at the moment our funding is very low. As you can Imagine the day to day running of a rescue of this size is not cheap, we have a lot of hungry mouths to feed, as well as any veterinary care! and this will always be our first priority.

Most of the existing enclosures have been in use for the best part of a decade, and could do with replacing. Along side this we have several ongoing construction projects which have ground to a halt again due to funding. for example Completion of the Kennel block would mean we could offer a home to Dogs, Completion of the outside Cat Runs would improve the quality of life for the Cats in our Care. The majority of the fencing needs replacing, and resurfaced walkways would vastly improve accessibility for volunteers and eventually long term enable us to allow the public onto the site, which in turn would generate income and make the Rescue more self sufficient.

So I ask you to please donate what ever you can spare, support the B.A.R and #gettheroundin

Hi Im Colin Plummer and I run Bildershaw Animal Rescue, with the help of around 40 volunteers. I took over the site and have been working 7 days a week since trying to build upon the work started by my Father with Kays Hill Animal Sanctuary, doing what i can with limited funds.
