The previous page timed out so this is a replacement! We have raised £170 so far.
I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia last year and had a lifesaving Stem Cell transplant at the brilliant Nottingham Haematology department.
Research in this field is moving very fast and real progress is improving treatment all the time. Lots more work is needed to improve the outlook for patients even more. My five year survival rate is about 50:50. Only a few years ago it was virtually zero for people of my age - 64 since you asked!.
My sister (who is my donor) & her husband came up with idea of a two day walk in the Derbyshire Dales taking in iconic sites such as Chatsworth and Robin Hood's Stride.
The idea is that this will be a fun weekend and not too strenuous! All we need is some decent weather!

A very big thank you to everyone who has contributed so generously. Putting all the donations together the grand total I now stabs at £1,670. We have been in touch with Professor Fletcher and hope to hand over a cheque for the Nottingham Leukaemia Appeal in the next few days.

8 years agoTogether with the previous page, we have raised £540 so far. Many many thanks to everyone who has contributed so generously. More good news - I hope! - this week's BBC weather forecast predicts that it will be fine and dry next weekend unlike today and last Saturday - let's hope they are right! Karine & I together with Lucy & Mike walked over Stanton Moor last weekend going past the Nine Ladies stone circle. It is very pretty with the heather and gorse in full bloom. Can't wait to see it when it isn't raining!
