Story
Bloxwich town centre is the most deprived town in Walsall.
Bloxwich town centre partnership works endlessly to improve the town and the facilities on offer for all who work, live and visit the area.
In 2012, the local authority proposed not to deliver Christmas lighting in the town due to budget cuts. As a result of this, the town centre businesses worked together and secured funding to purchase Christmas tree lighting in case none was delivered through the local authority.
The lighting was installed into 14 key trees in the town running throughout the whole town centre main High Street. The lighting is amazing and admired by all, encouraging new visitors to the Town Centre who shop in the small local businesses and use the local facilities. The community are so proud of the lighting as it showcases Bloxwich and all that makes it special.
This year due to the cost of repair and maintenance due to the severe damage caused during last winter we are unable to switch the lights on for all to see, visit and admire due to not securing the funding to do this.
We are seeking your help and support to pay for the works to the lights to be repaired, and switched on for the people of Bloxwich, giving something special back to the people, its community and its businesses who work tirelessly all year to provide local events and opportunities for the community who live in deprivation to experience something positive, happy and new in their town and their lives.
Our aim is to continue to improve Bloxwich to ensure all lives are better because of the work the partnership and the local community does in the town. we are seeking your support to help us continue to improve Bloxwich and deliver the lighting that is admired by all for all who work, live and visit the town.
Our pledge to all supporters is to ensure the lighting scheme is switched in December until March 2017 to allow you the opportunity to see the lighting in it truest form as a thank you for your kind support

8 years agoUnfortunately, this scheme has been delayed due to the following unforeseen circumstances:- • On inspection the lighting is so severely damaged he cannot salvage any of them – this has caused a significant delay in the delivery of this project and we are dressing 11 key trees throughout the town. Whilst it is very disappointing that this project will be delayed I can confirm that the above works will be completed by Saturday 14 January and will be kept lit until Spring. In 2017 I will seek further funding to dress the remaining trees.

8 years agoFirstly thank you so much to you the supporters of this project :) We are now able to complete the much needed essential repairs and replacements to switch on our beloved and beautiful lights. A quick update to you all - the lighting string and tranformers have been ordered and will be on the way to the electrician to allow them to install them as soon as they have been received. Once I have confirmation of this i'll create another update to you all of progress and hopefully a switch on date :) We did it with your help - a huge thankyou xx
