Benidorm or bust is raising money to help Alex get his life changing operation to help him with his pains and get him walking.

This is Alex's story...

Alex was born 8 weeks premature. He spent time in special care as he needed help breathing and also needed to be tube fed. When he was eventually allowed home things were going fine except he had a few feeding and sleeping problems which we just put down to his prematurity. Alex got to about 6 months old and we started to realise he wasnt hitting his milestones. He struggled with sitting, couldn't roll over and crawl etc. After tests, assesments, blood tests and and MRI scan he was diagnosed with PVL ( damage to the brain) resulting in Cerebral Palsy. Fortunately Alex does not suffer with a lot of issues often associated with CP. He does not suffer with siezures, sight and hearing problems and doesn't have any learning difficulties or developmental delay and his speech far in front of what it should be for his age which we are very grateful for. Despite this Alex suffers with Spastic Diplegic CP. This means it mainly effects his legs and his upper body slightly. He has problems with sitting, balance and he cannot walk or stand. Alex has been part of the ABR Therapy programe for 1 year now and is making fantastic progress. Unfortunately this therapy is not available on the NHS which is why we have decided to set up this page and fundraise to help with the yearly fees of which are approx £6000 per year. Alex is a very bright intelligent little boy thats always happy and smiling and we firmly believe continung with ABR Therapy will help Alex eventually be able to walk.
