Bob Armstrong is a without doubt a legend in the drumming community , first as a player and then as an educator of the highest order , literally thousands of eager students have made the pilgrimage to Essex to study with the master .
To so many Bob is not only a teacher and a mentor but a friend .
The list of students that have gone on to achieve successful and acclaimed careers is huge and simply a testament to Bob’s commitment , dedication and passion .
It has been obvious to the many that know Bob that his health has not been good in the past few years , the past weeks have seen a serious and debilitating acceleration in Bob’s condition and medically the out look and prognosis is not good , the knock on effect for Bob is a serous limitation on his beloved teaching which can only get worse .
Bob will have to limit his daily schedule to when his health allows and that in all honesty will not be anywhere near at the level he is used to working at. This dramatic and sudden news of the downturn in Bob’s health is not only a blow to what Bob loves to do most but is also a serious blow to Bob’s financial situation . Bob Armstrong has without a doubt some tough times ahead but the aim of this appeal is to make that journey more bearable and to help Bob and Charmaine feel more stable and comfortable as this journey concludes . Bob has given so much and now I would like to think that this wonderful community of ours can come together to help one of our own , any donation however small will help Bob and Charmaine to face the future with a little less to worry about . Harold Fisher and myself sat with Bob for hours and we talked naturally of drums and music, that in our opinion is all Bob should be concerned with at this time in his life after what he has done for us .
