Story
Amanda's story.
"My name is Amanda McGregor. I am 59 years old and I have been recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I will start Chemotherapy on the 21st of September 2023. I have been advised that I will lose my hair between my first and second cycles of Chemo, which means my hair will be falling out around my 60th Birthday on the 29th of September.
I have been told by my friends that I am being brave about my diagnosis. I am not brave, brave people do things that are scarey but still choose to do it. If I had a choice I would 'run like the wind' from cancer and Chemo, I'm only doing what I need to do to stay alive.
There is something that I do have a choice over and that is when I lose my hair. Cancer and Chemo are not going to make that choice. With that in mind, I choose to lose my hair on Saturday 23rd September. I want to turn a negative experience into a positive one, so when I lose my hair I want someone to benefit from it.
Please will you sponsor me to 'Brave the Shave' for Oswestry Cat Rescue and The Lingen Davies Davies Cancer Fund".
About Oswestry Cat Rescue
We are a non-profit charity rescue based in Oswestry, Shropshire, that aims to help rehabilitate and rehome feral, stray and abandoned cats and kittens.
Our small team consists of Liz and Keri, both of us having worked in cat rescue for nearly ten years with various charity organisations. Following the pandemic, rescue centres throughout the country were inundated with pets abandoned after being bought during lockdown.
With more and more cats and kittens coming into rescue centres and needing new homes, we devised our plan to open our own cat rescue centre in our home town.
About Lingen Davies
The charity exists to enhance and improve the situation for local cancer patients. We cannot eradicate cancer, but we can make life easier for those who are going through it, or watching loved ones go through it.
Please support Amanda and these wonderful charities during this difficult time.
