On 25th January 2013, my friend Sarah gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Brody Rollings. Sadly, Brody was stillborn. Brody's baby sister, born on 8th January 2015 was also stillborn. The loss of both babies was felt, not only by the devastated parents and older sisters of Brody and Harper, but also by their families, friends and the wider community.
Milestones provide painful reminders of the hopes and dreams for the children, the 5th September 2017 would've been Brody's first day at school. Both the children would've been taking a full part in the community, playing in the park at the centre of the village.
Like many of Sarah's friends, I have felt at a loss as to what can be done to support the family and let them know that they are still in our thoughts. Sarah and Mike have since been blessed with twin babies, their rainbow. Their courage has inspired me to find something we can do to recognise their loss and provide them some comfort.
Recently I approached Sarah with an idea of purchasing a memorial bench in Pattingham Park and she has agreed. It would be wonderful if the funds could be raised for the bench which would be located near to the Westbeech Road gate opposite the school. We have permission from the Parish Council and have a found a lovely design. There is a small team of friends organising a 90s Night at the end of September, it is hoped that through the JustGiving page and the 90s Night we can raise the £1,200 to provide a permanent memorial to these two beautiful children.
