Story

There are a number of fundraising events this month raising money for The Jack Lonergan Foundation. The school choir will be singing at John Lewis, Westfield, on Thursday 21st March in memory of Mr. Lonergan and raising money for The Jack Lonergan Foundation

Then one month later on 21st April Ms. Savage will be running the London Marathon. This will be her fifth time running 26.2 miles around the fabulous streets of London. This year is particularly important to her as she will be running to raise money for TJLF.

Staff and students will then be running 2.6km as partnof the London Mini Marathon in Schools, rounding off our marathon focussed fundraising.

Jack Lonergan was a teacher at St. George's for 3 years; he passionately supported students in their musical development and inspired many to pursue music and music tech at GCSE, A Level and beyond. Tragically, Jack passed away in 2021 at the age of 28, and his loss was felt by all of us in the school community and beyond. He was a great colleague and a dear friend, and his warm presence and kind heart is something that still resonates with those who knew him even today.

Jack's father established The Jack Lonergan Foundation as a way to honour Jack's legacy and promote musical education in young people. The foundation works tirelessly to provide opportunities for children and young adults from low-income families to learn to play an instrument, sing, and develop music tech skills. They have actively contributed to St. George's music department by providing the funds to build the Jack Lonergan recording studio, and it would be amazing to give something back.

If you are in a position to do so, we ask that you please donate generously to support the work of the Jack Lonergan foundation. Your donation will positively impact the lives of young people in a way that would make Jack proud.

Thank you in advance to those who donate, we are look forward to making you (and Jack) proud.
