Story
Getting out in nature, chatting with people and a mini-cycling-adventure, we’re all about helping older and less mobile people enjoy spending time outside in parks. Please chip in to help us continue the good work!
Many of our passengers live in care homes. We pick them up and cycle them round on our marvellous three-wheeled e-trishaws. Leisurely cycling in parks provides opportunities to touch flowers, feel the wind in your hair, laugh at ducks and find unexpected sculptures. We share memories and make new ones.
Regular trips go to the Botanical Gardens, Graves, Greenhill, Norfolk and Endcliffe Parks – if you see us give us a wave! Being out and about is a brilliant way to be part of a local community.
Our experience over five years of running CWA in Sheffield is that spending time outside can lift the spirits. Everyone absolutely loves the rides today. One of our members wasn’t feeling great this morning however after her ride said “I feel alive again”. Thank you both so much and we really look forward to seeing you again at Norfolk Park. (Activities manager, Age Better Wellbeing Centre).
All our rides are free for passengers and the care homes and other partners we work with. We are an entirely volunteer-run organisation and operate on a shoestring and goodwill. But we do have some essential bills that need covering each year, including specialised bike maintenance, insurance and training for new pilots. We raise all our own running costs.
As we head into 2024 please help us cover our bills. Every pound directly contributes to our ability to keep pedalling and putting smiles on the faces of our care home residents. Thank you!
