You may not realise but the football pitch on Victoria Park is maintained solely by the local football club Calverley United. We currently spend upwards of £3,000 per year maintaining the pitch. The club took on the licence to maintain the pitch back in 2019 following many years of neglect by the local council. We also had to purchase equipment to be able to carry out the required maintenance.

Unfortunately, the equipment has now reached the end of its working life and we want to be able to continue maintaining the pitch and improving it for all in the years to come. The pitch is used by the open age teams on a Saturday afternoon and the juniors on a Sunday. However, we have an exciting development for next season. Calverley United Juniors under 14's girls' team will be playing their home fixtures on a Saturday morning on Victoria Park. This is a first for the club and will be a great addition to the sport on show within the village and local community. However, for this to be successful we need to be able to continually maintain and improve the quality of the pitch. This is why we are asking for your help; we are joining forces with the Junior section of the club to apply for funding from the Football Foundation to be able to purchase some high-quality maintenance equipment. Unfortunately, this equipment does not come cheap and requires a 25% investment from the club. Any donations will be gratefully received, and not only will this help improve the quality of the pitch for the football club it will also improve the pitch for all those that enjoy our beautiful park in Calverley.
