    Story

I am cycling from London to Paris raising money, in this first event, for the CamBotsio Foundation.

The Foundation is a newly formed charity, set up to raise funds to provide support for secondary aged children in Ghana, either by contributing towards school fees, or other associated costs.

The charity’s aim is to help children who would otherwise not have access to the fees necessary to fund their secondary education, or whose education is at threat of being cut short due to a significant life event; usually the death of a parent or guardian.

The premise behind the charity is that despite the steady progress Ghana has made as a developing nation, nearly 60 years after gaining independence from British colonial rule, the country has not yet been able to make it possible to provide secondary stage education free at the point of delivery. As a result, nearly 50% of children at this level do not have the opportunity to gain a secondary education. Poverty being the determining factor that denies them the financial means to attend school.

Education is the key route out of poverty. According to the UN, every extra year of schooling increases a person’s earnings by up to 10% and by helping to address the educational access deficiency, the charity seeks to help children improve their life chances.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” ― Nelson Mandela

With your generous donations, we aim to support as many children as possible.

Please help us make a difference!
