I am currently volunteering for CameroonONE, an incredible organization that enables orphaned Cameroonian children to be placed within the households of surviving relatives by providing the latter with a yearly stipend (a pre-determined monetary sum, school fees, medical assistance, school supplies, uniforms, text books, shoes, as well as rice, seeds, and cooking oil) on the conditional basis that the child attend a decent school and that he or she is fully vaccinated and receives whatever healthcare that may be specific to their personal needs.

According to UNICEF statistics, there are currently 1,300,000 Cameroonian children who have been abandoned to the world with no immediate family members. CameroonONE has developed a program to confront the current orphan crisis within the country. The project has been designed to support both an orphaned child and his or her surviving relatives with the goal of keeping families together while making the orphan communes available for only the most imperative situations.
