    Story

Welcome to our Just Giving page!

Carlton Football Club and Carlton Cricket club have joined forces to raise money to buy and install a vital piece of safety equipment at the sports club. Defibrillation is a common treatment for life-threatening cardiac arrests. Defibrillation delivers a therapeutic dose of electric current (often called a countershock) to the heart with a device called a defibrillator.

In the unlikely event that a player suffers a cardiac arrest on the field of play. The clubs have joined forces to raise money to buy and install a shared unit that can be installed at reaching distance of the playing fields.

We have all heard of the case of Fabrice Muamba who played for Bolton Wanderers. Luckily Paramedics had life saving equipment at hand that ultimately helped to save his life. Unfortuneately local clubs with less money have no access to this equipment and in the event of a heart failure, have to wait as long as 15 minutes for paramedics to arrive and treat the casualty.

Daniel Wilkinson who was only 26 years old and played non league football for Shaw Lane AFC died in hospital after a suspected heart attack during a Game between Shaw lane and Brighouse Town earlier this year.

When someone has a cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces their chances of survival by 7-10%

If a defibrillator is used and effective CPR is performed within 3-5 minutes of cardiac arrest, survival chances increase from 6% to 74%

The emergency services average response time to a cardiac event related incident in an urban area has increased from 8 to 11 minutes
Without immediate treatment, 90-95 percent of Sudden Cardiac Arrest victims will die.

Please give generously to our cause, in the unlikely event that this would happen to one of our players at Carlton Football or Cricket club, we would appreciate the chance to save a life!

    thankyou for your donations!
