Story
Foodshare Maidenhead is a small local charity whose objectives are to serve fresh, nutritious breakfasts to every child visiting the Food Hub over the weekends, and provide children a healthy evening meal on the days the Hub is open. Local families that are on low income don’t often shout out that they are suffering financially and are unable to provide food for their families. Foodshare Maidenhead provides such support by helping top up the families’ food shopping. Food is either donated by local businesses or charitable donations made to enable the team to be able to purchase food for the local community who attend the Food Hub.
Castle Royle members would be helping to create an environment and a separate space where children can enjoy a hearty meal, join in leisure activities - like board games and reading - while engaging with volunteers. The parents will then have time to connect with organisations like the Samaritans and CAB to identify and address their challenges in this current cost of living crisis.
Furthermore, during school holidays, holiday hunger is at an all-time high. The Hub Club will be able to provide meals and host small activities.
All this costs money to create the space required and to provide a safe environment for children to be able to eat and even have normal things we take for granted like simple birthday parties. Foodshare Maidenhead believes that everyone deserves to enjoy food that caters to their needs, and it works tirelessly to make this a reality. If we can get this project off the ground, so it can continue to feed the children of our future who are less fortunate than most of us, we will be able to end hunger in the Maidenhead community.
Together, we can make a difference to the lives of those who need it the most.
