My name is Catherine McGovern and I am currently an A Level student studying Sociology, History and Psychology. All through my life I have had a passion for helping others and being involved in charities. I feel that I have always been encouraged by my parents and upbringing to give to others, both financially and by physically volunteering. Therefore I am going to embark on a trip to Ghana in West Africa with my fellow students.I will working in a rural area of Ghana, 2 hours drive east of the capital Accra. I will be working in a school for 10 days, supporting the teachers, who may have as many as 70 children in a class.Most children who attend this school live below the national Ghanaian poverty line, which is $1 a day.
However an amazing opportunity like this comes at a cost. Therefore because the trip costs £1850 I am raising money to fund this trip. I will also be fund raising in other ways through the year to ensure I reach my target. Any donations, no matter how big or small, would be greatly appreciated.
