    Story

The photo is of a classroom in a small town called Bluefields in Nicaragua. It's one of a four classroom school with toilet block, office, kitchen and store room that I played a small part in building in the summer of 2016. To raise money to finance the team I was part of I organised a cycling sportive which managed to raise almost £4000. A sportive is a leisure ride, not a race and is open to anyone over the age of six. You can ride 25. 40 or 65 miles on three routes around the cotswold countryside. Last year I printed and laminated signs to 'way mark' the routes. We fixed then to trees, telegraph poles, lamp posts and the like with staples and cable ties. Because we punctured the laminate to fix them when it rained they ran and were ruined and some of the participants towards the end of the day could not even read them.
So! we need proper signs! In other words correx, made for the job signs.
The signs will cost in the region of £350 to £400 for arrows and safety signs and I cannot get sponsorship from any business I have asked. I really don't want the charity to have to pay for them and so I would greatly appreciate your help with perhaps a £5 or £10 donation. The school is now giving a decent education in a fit for purpose school to about 150 children. They even feed most of them because they come to school hungry. They look very smart in the photo because they have uniforms but even those are paid for by The Peace and Hope Trust because their parents can't afford to buy them and they are not allowed to attend school without a uniform. ( a stupid government policy). I want this event to be an ongoing great success so that the trust can go on doing the amazing stuff they do out in Nicaragua and so it's really important that the cycling routes are well signed and safe for all those taking part. If you want to know more about the trust work visit www.peaceandhope.org.uk For information about the sportive email Ronald at swanwick@stablestudio.co.uk.
    Thanks.

      Update from the Page owner

Thank you very much for your support. I now have the signs and they are great. We will take care of them and they should last us for at least ten years. I have big ambitions for this event as a significant fundraiser for the trust thus ensuring many more children will benefit from new schools, clinics and all the other work done. Cheers Ron
