Every year chicken farmers want to replace their laying hens with new ones as they start producing less eggs as soon as they hit the 1 year age mark.
These hybrid chickens can live to the age of 8 if they're lucky enough to escape the slaughter house which is where they are due to end up in 7 days time. I am in contact with a farmer who has given me 7 days to collect the chickens... as many as i can take! There are 120 in total.
What i intend to do is take in as many chickens as i can.
I will be buying a galvanized run measuring 2 x 4 x 2 M ( or the next size up if i can get enough funds) and home as many chickens as i can.
I am asking for help with the costs as its such short notice and want to save as many of these chickens as possible and give them a second chance at life away from the battery hen cages they have been cramped up in for the past year or so. They will be able to roam free during the day on my land and will have nesting boxes/coops in the galvanised run at night time so they are safe from predators
UV Stabilised Polyester Fabric Roof

A large coop to keep warm/nest in
Any vet bills that crop up
chickens themselves cost £5 each
Even if you can only donate £1 it is something.
If you are in the Norfolk or Suffolk area and can help home any of these birds please get in contact. The birds are in Thetford IP25 7AQ and can be collected directly from the farm
Thank you for your help
