Story
I belong to an Online Forum Loquax, which is a site for entering competitions and general chat. Recently we lost a much loved member Lesley, who for years has inspired us with her scrumptious recipes, not least her "Best Ever Christmas Cake", which many of our Loquats swear by. In memory of Lesley some of us are baking a Christmas Cake using her tried and trusted recipe. I'm calling it a Christmas Cake Challenge, as for a few of us, it will be our first attempt at baking a Christmas Cake, but I thought it would be a very fitting way of remembering this lovely lady, and raising some money for an organisation which was close to her heart.
I'm collecting money for the Macmillan Triangle Centre in Tavistock, which Lesley attended and raised money for herself through her sponsored walks. Any donations will be most welcome, and for Loquax Members you can follow our cake making progress in the Chat Section.

7 years agoThank you so much to everyone for donating, we have reached our target! I will let the page run to its conclusion on 8th Jan, and then send the final amount to the MacMillan Triangle Center in Tavistock in memory of Lesley. In the meantime, here is my finished cake. Having never baked or iced a Christmas Cake before, I am amazed that I have produced something resembling a cake :D
