So it's coming to the time of year where children are writing their wish lists to Santa and parents are starting to think about what they are going to get their children this year that will light up their face on Christmas morning when they rip off the wrapping paper to discover a new toy or a teddy or their first bike!

I'm sure we all have very fond memories of spending Christmas with our families and there is always one present that stays in your memory for years. Mine was receiving my own TV to put in my room from my Grandparents and I was so excited.

Now take a second to think about if you never received any presents for Christmas or if you're a parent, how you would feel if you couldn't afford to buy anything for your children. James and I got to thinking about this and how upsetting it is that these children just come to accept that Santa won't be bringing them anything again this year. So we have decided we are going to spend some money to buy Christmas presents for children in the local area who otherwise will be waking up on Christmas morning to nothing under the tree (if they can even afford a tree). We realised that if we cut out on our weekly takeaway or bowling trip for 2 weeks then we could save £50 towards gifts for children in need.

We also thought we could open up the opportunity to friends and families to help us out with this. So please if you can donate whatever you can. Even £1 or £2 could buy children a set of colouring pencils or a toy car. Imagine the amount of fun and appreciation these children will get out of this and might be one of their only toys. All in exchange for what you would probably spend on a bottle of coke or a sandwich. That's all it would take to give these children the Christmas they deserve and make them feel a sense of excitement for Santa to come rather than just waking up to an ordinary day.
