Story

Paul, affectionately known to us as Spider is a member of the Blaenau Gwent Veterans group, who has helped raise vital funds for worthy causes including completing the 255 mile walk last year, which helped two very worthy causes.

Unfortunately Paul and his family are in need of help. Paul's beautiful little grand-daughter Ayla was born on 14th April 2022 and on the 10th January 2024 after her entire life searching for answers, the families world was turned upside down when Ayla was diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic condition MPS I - Hurler Syndrome. As devastating as this news was the family were relieved to finally have a diagnosis.

On the 11th of March Ayla was admitted to Birmingham Children's Hospital for aggressive chemotherapy before receiving a lifesaving stem cell transplant. This process will take a minimum of 12 weeks and after the treatment Ayla will need to remain completely isolated at home for at least 6 months.

The Blaenau Gwent Veterans group are attempting to complete Ten-Y-Fan on Saturday 10th August Starting at 09:00 The challenge is to climb Pen-Y-Fan Ten times in 24 hours. Although the team are all the wrong side of 50 and some 60 plus, they are determined to complete this challenge, and Paul himself, will be there completing the challenge.

This will hopefully raise vital funds for the family which will support Ayla through this terrible time.

We hope you can spare some money to donate if you are able to do so.

Thank you
