The Clipper 2017-18 Round the World Yacht Race will start at the end of August 2017 and return a year later - at 40,000nm its the worlds longest ocean race.
Having never sailed before I have been accepted to join as a amateur crew member and will be sailing across the North Atlantic on their last leg back to the UK on a 70ft yacht covering over 4000nm.
I am now in intense training with Clipper and Scarborough Yacht Club.
I am financing the training and costs to Clipper myself however the kit I require is specialised and expensive. I am very grateful to my sponsors Moneyweb, The Ice Co, RG nets and Cherrys Country hardware for their support to date which has allowed me to buy the essential base and mid layers. However I still require many other items such as a waterproof sleeping bag. I therefore have set this fundraising account up for individuals who have enquired about supporting me.
I am extremely grateful for all the support I have received so far and hope you enjoy following my journey.

Hi, just back from completing my Clipper Level 2 training plus the RYA sea survival course. Was a tough week encountering sea sickness, a hole in the main sail plus the night watch system. However the team helped me celebrate my birthday with a surprise cake and Jelly babies! My kit is standing up well - definitely the right decision to invest in the specialised items which suit me, I was always warm, dry and comfortable. Thanks for your support.
