Story

COFFEE & COMPUTERS urgently needs funds to continue and expand its essential work.

Digital exclusion is a pressing problem in today's world. It leads not only to isolation but for many it is also a huge obstacle to their gaining access to essential public services. COFFEE & COMPUTERS, which started in 2015 with one group in Highgate and now runs 11 sessions a month in 8 locations, helps (mainly older) folk gain basic computing skills and become familiar with the internet.

COFFEE & COMPUTERS community-based sessions are free and are run entirely by volunteers. They start with a group discussion and then break-out into personal, (one-to-one/small group), learning. Within a few 2-hour sessions most attendees have acquired the basic skills that will enable them to access the internet, email, fill-in forms, exchange photos with family & friends etc.

COFFEE & COMPUTERS is a recognized Community Organisation supported by Haringey's Bridge Renewal Trust & Public Voice. It has a constitution and a managing board which includes its 3 trustees.

Funds are now needed to resource ourselves adequately. We need digital equipment for attendees to work with and as teaching aids. Also we need funds to publicise our sessions, attract more volunteers and cover basic venue costs.
