    Story

Empowering Educators for a Brighter Future: Mental Health Training for Teachers

    Introduction:

In a country where poverty casts its shadow over countless lives, we believe that every child deserves a chance at a brighter future. Join us in our crowdfunding campaign to provide mental health awareness and skills training to 400 teachers working with 10000 children living in poverty. Together, we can make a lasting impact on their lives and foster a nurturing environment that enables their full potential.

    Problem Statement:

Children growing up in poverty face numerous challenges, including HIV, Trafficking, abandonment malnutrition, abuse, and other more complex issues. They have no access to mental health resources or support and don’t even have words for depression or anxiety. These struggles often manifest in their academic performance, behaviour, and overall well-being. Teachers play a pivotal role in their lives, but they are ill-equipped to handle the complex mental health needs of their students. By investing in teacher training, we can bridge this critical gap and empower educators to better support and uplift the children they serve.

    Our Solution:

Through this campaign, we aim to raise funds to provide comprehensive mental health training to teachers working with underprivileged children. We are partnering with Headgym (https://headgym.co.uk/) to provide the training and support to these communities.

This program will equip them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to identify and address mental health issues effectively. The training will cover areas such as early intervention strategies, growth mindset, solution focused approaches, and help to create safe and inclusive classrooms.

    Impact:

By reaching our goal of training 400 teachers, we can positively impact the lives of 10,000 children in poverty. With improved mental health awareness and skills, teachers will create a nurturing and supportive environment where students can thrive academically and emotionally. By intervening early and effectively, we can break the cycle of poverty and empower these children to reach their full potential.

    Your Support:

Your contribution will directly fund the training, training materials, workshops, translator and resources necessary to educate teachers in mental health awareness and coping strategies. Together, we can provide the tools for teachers to become compassionate advocates, transforming the lives of thousands of children. Join us in this worthy cause and be a catalyst for change.

    What has Headgym done before?

Headgym has been funding training and development workshops in Cambodia for the last 7 years. Building relationships with community leaders and understanding how to support young people has taken time and effort. They are now in a position to support a wider community and train 400 teachers to do this.

As an organisation that has been working with people since 2011, helping with mental health challenges, wellbeing in the workplace, and has a mainly coaching-focused approach. They have been a member of the CPD Standards Office since 2019 and have passed the rigorous assessment process for training activities to become an accredited CPD provider.

How will the money be spent?

Over the next 12 months (2023-2024), there will be many trips to Cambodia to provide training with teachers. The costs are mainly flights, accommodation, trainer fees, translators, etc. You can see the full list below:

    Visas/ work permit £400.00

    Translators £1,900.00

    Course materials £200.00

    Insurance £200.00

Course development and trainer fees £1300.00

    Transport when in Cambodia £900.00

    Flights (multiple trips) £3,900.00

    Accommodation £1,200.00

    Total £10,000

    Conclusion:

Investing in the mental health training of teachers is an investment in the future of thousands of children living in poverty. Your support will help create a brighter future by empowering educators to provide the vital support and care these children deserve. Together, let's uplift their spirits, nurture their potential, and pave the way for a more inclusive and compassionate society. Donate today and join us on this transformative journey.
