Story

Hello everyone and thanks for visiting our page and your support.
On, the eve of World Lymphoma Day 2024, 14th September 2024 I will be taking part in The Cooper Hands Mighty Hike in support of The Cooper Hands. This event has been organised by Katie and Angela, mum and auntie to Hughie. Please keep reading to learn more about Hughie, his charity and mission.
Hughie's story
In December 2023 Hughie was diagnosed with T Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. This is an aggressive form of blood cancer. Hughie has spent the last 9 months undergoing intensive chemotherapy. Hughie’s treatment will continue will until April 2027. Whilst cancer has turned his world upside down Hughie continues to brighten any room he walks into - he is super brave, super courageous, super funny and super determined to help others.
Hughie and his family learnt very quickly that when a child is diagnosed with cancer it has an immediate and profound effect on so many - Mums, Dads, siblings, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, friends, school…..The list is endless. But, they also learnt that for each and every child diagnosed with cancer there is also an endless list of support out there and this is mostly through small charitable organisations - Hughie and those around him have embraced this support and feel the benefit everyday.
During one of Hughie's hospital stays a random package arrived at the end of his bed...filled with treats to keep his spirits up. This was a simple yet very effective gift from a small charitable organisation. From this Hughie said "I want to be able to help to" and so, from there The Coopers Hand was created. Hughie already knew there was lots of charities who have got everything covered, so he decided to raise money to simply give a helping hand back to the charitable organisations affiliated with Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and children of Ward 84 and Ward 86.
Please show your support to Hughie and us by helping us reach a target of £2500 as we take on a 20 mile march through Glossop over Kinder Scout and through Hayfield
