Weʼve raised £180 to support a charity close to our heart - You and Me vs MND (and also to get my sexy husband DK into tight Cycling Kit)

Johannesburg South, Gauteng, África do Sul
Funded on Sunday, 11th December 2016

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

DK and I love to ride... boards, not bikes, but boards. Our brother Kevin Jordan however loved to ride bikes... and drive cars and play with his kids and do things for his wife that shows that he cares...

DK and I have taken on the challenge of cycling nearly 100km next weekend - yes 20th November 2016. No time in the saddle - I've done this before, but DK is a total bike virgin. We will be doing the Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge for a cause - to raise awareness and funds for You and Me versus MND.

    My brother's story:
After being diagnosed with a disease known as MND, Motor Neurone Disease, ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease (dependent on who you are talking to), Kevin's ability to do these things he loves decreased. Kevin is lucky enough to have an awesome support circle, but through the disease and the MNDA of South Africa he has come into contact with people who do not have this, or the resources to acquire the tools needed to help people with this disease to stay able to be mobile or communicate with those around them.

Kevin started You and Me vs MND as a platform to raise awareness and funds - you can read all about it and the events organised by them at:
    www.youandmevsmnd.co.za
You can follow and support him/them at:
    www.facebook.com/YouandMeVersusMND/
    www.twitter.com/kevinjordan555

All we are asking is for a small donation to go towards You and Me versus MND's fundraising efforts and their aim to raise ZAR 200 000 for MNDSA in 2016.

What will you get in return?
    1. You will feel like you did something good today!
    2. You will get to see DK - who never wears anything to show off his legs into tight cycling kit.
    3. You will get the chance to win a 'signed' copy of Kevin's Autobiography - 'Dying to Live' . *Only applies to donations before Monday 21 November 2016 that include contact details.
    4. You will make us even HAPPIER than we are - and you know that making others happy makes you happy too :)

    So PLEASE PLEASE donate :)

Thank you so much Bryan, Slawek and the Payne's for your support - we are nearly there! 5 sleeps have passed and we both seem to have recovered fine after the race. We now just need to get all the borrowed gear into the condition it was before the race and we are ready for our next mission. Last year that mission was to travel with my brother to visit our parents. Finding accommodation and facilities for people with mobility issues is a challenge around the world. Even if you don't donate you can help by being more aware and supportive.

So we did it... 94.7 km on a bike. Considering DK has been on a bike maybe 3 times since I've known him I am very impressed! I struggled, but DK paced himself and would have finished in a great time if he did not wait for me. Photo is of us and my brother who has MND at 60km... Dave's so relaxed he's having a beer!!! All the pain and struggle of riding a distance we never prepared for is a great metaphor for the struggle people with MND have to face. The brain says yes, but the body says no and you need all the support you can get. Thanks!

My big brother is inspirational and so are all those around him that support him day to day in his fight against MND - a disease that has no known cause nor cure. This fundraiser is our way of saying thanks for this support and constant reminder of why we have to live life!
