Story
We, at Darwen Cricket Club, are embarking on the construction of a state-of-the-art covered floodlight cricket centre that will not only elevate the quality of the sport but also provide a safe and accessible haven for the budding cricketers in our community. Cricket is more than just a sport for us; it’s a unifying force that brings our community together. However, the lack of a suitable facility for year-round practice and play often restricts our ability to harness the full potential of this sport. The proposed covered floodlight cricket centre will make a world of difference by allowing us to extend the playing season, accommodate more teams and players, and provide a conducive environment for coaching and training. This facility will be a beacon for children in Darwen, offering them the opportunity to develop their cricketing skills and fostering a sense of discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The centre will be used by the playing members (male and female), juniors, local schools and be the chosen venue for the MCC Cricket Hub site in this area. This will also provide funded cricket for state school children in our area
