Story
At Helsby Tennis Club we are a community and we pull together in times of need. A much-loved member of our club, Dave Sharpes, was diagnosed with cancer last year and has recently discovered the devastating news it is incurable. We are all heart-broken by this news. Dave is a treasured club member who not only loves the game but has been a valued member of various teams and the club committee for a number of years. Anyone familiar with Dave will know a man who is fiercely loyal, dedicated and generous.
He is the epitome of a family man with his wife Suzanne and three beautiful daughters, Ava, Grace and Hannah. With this in mind we want to give Dave and his family the opportunity to go on holiday and make many precious memories. Therefore, to raise the money to enable them to, we’re organising a day of fundraising on Friday the 24th May.
The day will start with a Tennisathon played from 5am until 7pm. Basically a group of club members will ensure that tennis is played continuously between these times. For this stage of the day we are asking for any sponsorship donations to support this worthy cause. Unsurprisingly Dave is approaching his personal challenge with positivity, so with 4 courts at the club we welcome anyone to come down and join in the fun because this is what Dave wants, a day of fun.
Other fundraising activites for the day will be shared via other channels. Thank you in advance for any support you can offer via donations to support this true gent and pillar of our the tennis club.
