Hey guys, I’ve decided to challenge myself and next summer I will be volunteering in rural communities in Fiji. When out there, I will be serving local schools by tutoring children who are struggling and providing constructive activities for various ages, which would otherwise be non-existent.
1/3 of Fiji’s population live in poverty and less than 50% of people have access to proper sanitation and fresh water. In rural Fiji there is limited access to education with less than 5% of children having access to early years education and schools are devoid of basic resources. By making a difference to their educational system, a huge impact can be made to tackle these numbers.
I’m working with Think Pacific, an amazing charity who support over 50,000 children living in hardship each year. This includes the purchase of educational resources and sports equipment for rural schools, providing teacher training, improving school facilities, providing health advocacy and providing early years education.
