Story

Hi, My name is Derek Steele. I live in Inverness which is away up north in the Highlands of Scotland.

My Kids have been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Aiden MacKenzie of Highland Top Team/Caledonian Martial Arts, for just over 2 years now, and they love it!

Last year I climbed Ben Nevis (along with my daughter Codi) to raise money for the Kids Team to compete at the Elite BJJ Junior World Championships in Wolverhampton! This year I aim to paddleboard the length of Loch Ness (23 miles) on the 6th of May to again raise funds to help get the Kids Team to the World Championships!

Loch Ness is 23 miles long and holds an estimated 263 billion cubic feet of water. Which is more than all the water in all the lakes, rivers and reservoirs in the whole of England and Wales combined! Loch Ness's deepest points are over 800ft deep which is twice the average depth of the North Sea.

This will be quite a strenuous and challenging task that could involve being on the Loch for 10-14 hours depending on the weather and water conditions, but one I am prepared to take on in order to get these kids to the Worlds and accomplish an exciting goal.

As you will appreciate with the cost of living crisis alot of people are struggling at the moment. I am looking to raise funds to enable the Kids Team to compete on a world stage! The Elite BJJ Junior World Championships take place on the 13th & 14th July in Wolverhampton, which is 440 miles from Inverness... This is a wonderful opportunity to sponsor kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the Highlands and bring some well deserved recognition to our part of the world. Any amount will help! You never know YOU could be helping fund a future world champion.

Thank you for reading the page and wish me luck in my fundraising efforts.
