In order to provide life changing treatment our dog must complete intensive training to detect and alert me to medical emergencies, this training is only provided in England and costs a lot of money!! For the £13,000 we plan to do a year of sponsored activities, the whole family is getting involved.
If our dog does not get this training I will remain unfit to work and will continue to live a very sad scared life. The onset of symptoms are fast and often not noticed until the emergency becomes severe requiring rapid asistance this means at the moment I cannot be alone. The medical condition effects me every day. At the moment there is no cure for my condition and to give me a quality of life the dog must become a very effective tool to alert me and others that I am unwell and need medication / attention. He must become a D.A.D - Diabetic Alert Dog.
