Story

Dinos was born in London in 1965, the son of Cypriot parents Christalla and Takis, and the elder brother of Andros and Mariella. This dual heritage led to his life-long fascination and passion for cultural memory, identity and theatre.

Dinos grew up in East Finchley where his love for theatre began at the local Finchley Youth Theatre. As a child, he was proud to act in plays in the neighbourhood, and at his English and Greek schools. He had his West End debut in his early teens.

Dinos graduated in English and Drama from the University of York and completed his postgraduate teacher training at the University of Birmingham. He taught drama in London for a year and then commenced his overseas career by working for international schools in Athens, Milan and Vienna. He spent the last twenty years as an international freelancer working closely with a variety of organisations, including Birmingham Royal Ballet, UCAN, the IB (International Baccalaureate) and ISTA (International School Theatre Association) travelling the world whilst pursuing his passions for writing, directing, youth theatre and education. In 2022, Dinos was appointed as Executive Director of ISTA, where he developed innovative partnerships as part of ISTA’s new vision.

In memory of Dinos, and to build upon his legacy, we are working with ISTA to develop opportunities for young people in his name.

We thank you in advance for any donations that you would like to make.
