Story
Although Armenia is far from Scotland, young professional musicians are looking to build their lives and careers there in the same way as those here in Scotland, and, at the same time, to share the joy and pleasure of live music with people who otherwise wouldn't have access to it. Funding may be tough here, but it is even tougher in Armenia. DoReMeet, a recently formed Armenian organisation inspired by LIve Music Now, is needing funds to get it over the hurdle to the next stage of delivering concerts using a pool of 16 specially auditioned early career artists in places such as care homes for elderly people, special schools, hospitals and orphanages. Personal memories of Armenia, on choir tour with Edinburgh University Renaissance Singers in 2005, are long-lasting ones from a wealth of inspiring and enriching experiences that made a deep impression. This seems a chance to give something back to a country that welcomed touring musicians by supporting its own musicians and people.
