Story
On December 3rd I will be flying out to Drama in Northern Greece to spend two weeks as a medical volunteer in a refugee camp.
I will be working with an organisation called Kitrinos, which provides basic health care to the families living in the camp and other camps nearby from the back of two donated ambulances and now three simple clinic rooms. They are entirely dependent on charities and donations for their medical supplies and are run by volunteer medical professionals.
The Drama camp is in an open warehouse, with each family living in a small designated area, separated by blankets. They currently have no access to hot water, which is likely to be problematic during the winter months and have a significant impact on hygiene and health. Infectious diseases spread easily in such cramped conditions.
I am hoping to raise money to help buy a petrol heater for the camp which would provide a few hours of hot water a day. The camp also require regular restocking of their pharmacy and clinic rooms; needles, bandages, simple antibiotics. I have paid for my travel and accomodation myself so all money raised will go straight to the camp where it's needed!
Please donate if you can- even small donations are very welcome.
