Dylan is now 5 years old, he was diagnosed at 19 months old with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 2. This is a neuromuscular condition which results in extensive muscle weakness and severely affects his mobility. Dylan is unable to stand or walk and is wheelchair dependent. Dylan is a growing boy and is quickly outgrowing his manual wheelchair and due to his poor muscle strength he finds manoeuvring himself around difficult. Dylan's family have been raising funds and we would all like to contribute to help them purchase the powered wheelchair. A number of us have known Dylan since he was a baby and no amount of discomfort dampens his smile, the powered wheelchair would make Dylan more independent and allow him to play with his friends and access more facilities in and outside school. Dylan is a joy to be around he is a kind, thoughtful and fun loving 5 year old!
