Story
Between 4th April and 7th April we are taking part in Walking in the Valleys for Young Cricketers which sees us complete 50 miles in 4 days in order to raise funds for our thriving junior section.
The walk is as follows:
Day 1 Ebbw Vale CC – Blackwood CC
Day 2 Blackwood CC - Machen CC
Day 3 Machen CC – Pontypridd CC
Day 4 Pontypridd CC – Sophia Gardens
When we saw Walking in the Valleys, we knew it was something to be involved with. Cricket in Blaenau Gwent has been struggling for a number of years, but it is great to see the efforts being put it here at Ebbw, Blaina, Tredegar, Abertillery and elsewhere to bring Junior Cricket back to life.
Walking in the Valleys will help our own club with reducing membership fees, continuing our provision of shirts to juniors at no cost and establishing a club kitbag to ensure equipment is no barrier. We also aim to benefit the wider community by establishing and running an U9 & U11 Junior Indoor League over the winter, to keep community engagement and children involved in the game. This will give a safe secure environment for junior cricket in the borough to establish itself and thrive once again!
The club was established in 1852 with the aim of providing cricketing opportunities in the local community. We are proud of the offer we have in 2023 which is providing more opportunities than ever before.

We are a community focused club which resides in the Ebbw Vale Community Cricket Pavilion. The Pavilion business enables us to engage with the wider community, hosting a weight loss class, a netball club, a games room as well as the newly created Ebbw Vale Sports Ltd Cricket & Teamwear Shop.
We run taster sessions for the club in local school and are pleased to be the home of the Blaenau Gwent Primary School Kwik Cricket Festivals. We work closely with the Local Authority to try and maximise our community engagement.
