Story

I created Edwalton Food Hub 2 weeks before Christmas in 2022 as a way of saving money towards Christmas presents tor my 3 children and was amazed how much food was going to waste.

I started collecting food and became a “Food Waste Hero” for Olio and advertising surplus food that would have ended up as waste or animal feed and could not fathom how so much food was going to waste but people are still going hungry?!

Within a few weeks I was out collecting food every night off other volunteers to create nutritional food parcels for the community. Driving between 850-1000 miles a month collecting food for other people.

I have been exceptionally lucky that DG cars stepped in to help when my car broke and have continued to collect food on my behalf so I can continue running the hub.

I am approaching my 1 year anniversary of running Edwalton Food Hub entirely unfunded. I have 2 chest freezers, 2 fridge freezers and and a tall stand alone fridge.

I run the hub from my home 7 days a week and have 10-15 people attend my house a day to collect food.

I haven’t set Edwalton Food Hub up to make money but i would appreciate any donations towards the running costs of the hub to be able to continue operating all the equipment I am.
