Hi my name is Elise. I am a student going into the 6th form and I am raising money for a month long, school expedition to volunteer in Peru in 2018 with Camps International.

I will work alongside local people in rural areas on a wide range of initiatives designed to help improve living standards within their community, where many people are living on the poverty line. Projects could be improving school facilities, building greenhouses (malnutrition is prevalent), improving sanitation facilities and tourism development.
I will also get the privileged opportunity to help protect some of the world’s most important and fragile ecosystems such as getting involved in environmental reforestation projects that address habitat destruction in Peru. This is particularly important to me as I aspire to be a biologist.

I need to raise £4,500 by March 2018 and I need as much help as possible. I have to fund this trip myself and will also be fundraising other ways as an individual as well as in a group. So far have raised an amazing £1400!

A large portion of almost 50% of the money raised goes directly towards the projects I will be involved in. The rest of money raised goes towards the flights, basic accommodation, meals, travel insurance, transportation and kit needed.

A small donation of the price of a coffee or take away meal would be extremely helpful.

This expedition is extremely important to me as not only will I gain invaluable university UCAS points, it is something a bit more special and conjures up a number of exciting possibilities that 'normal' travel doesn't. An expedition will allow me to totally immerse myself in an unfamiliar culture and environment, working in a team, helping to overcome adversity and grow as an individual. It will be a physical and mental challenge (to varying degrees) and will give a global perspective on life.
