Mental Disabilities are rarely recognized or understood as a serious illness and is greatly ignored by most banks and credit card companies. Despite the immense impact borrowing and debt can have on someone suffering with a mental illness, there are no laws or programs emplace to monitor and discourage credit companies from leaching onto those who don't have the ability to comprehend the impact debt can have on oneself.

People suffering with a mental illness can find it very difficult to find and sustain full-time employment forcing them to apply for EI. Unfortunately, medical EI barely covers the cost of rent let alone everyday living expenses, making it virtually impossible to decrease or pay off any personal debt.

This extra stress can increase the seriousness of ones mental disability causing them to self harm or worse, commit suicide.

With this fundraiser we can help those who are unable to keep and maintain employment due to a mental illness, and are in need of debt relief. Impacting their ability to focus on healing by reducing or eliminating their illness.
