Ellis is a stereotypical 8 year old boy who loves nothing more than playing football at the weekends with his team, Rotherham Town Under 8‘s Orange. He’s just finished his first season playing and has come on leaps and bound but more importantly, he has grown in cofidence, become more resillent and developed strong friendships with his team mates. As part of a fundraising push, Ellis has been trying to wrap his brain on what he could do to raise money to keep his grassroots football team being able to run successfully and for many more seasons. After a bit of help from his Dad and I, we decided on ‘Running a Marathon in 30 days.’ We have worked out that this would be just under 0.9 miles daily for the full 30 days, on top of football training, school and daily life. Being a goalkeeper, Ellis‘ fitness isn‘t amazing so this will be a really challenge for him. Both me and Josh will be helping Ellis along his journey and hoping we survive by the end of it too.

Not only is Ellis going to be running for his team but he also wants to raise money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity as he is well aware that for many reasons other children are not as fortunate as him and get to do something they love as they choose. This hospital has done and continues to do an awful lot for Ellis’ younger brother, Otis, who was born with a visual impairment. They have suppported him in gaining useable sight in his poorly eye which is something that looked unlikely at the beginning of hs life.

The money will be split 50/50 into both Rotherham Town’s U8’s Orange Team Fundraising Fund and the Children’s Hospital Charity.
