Story
Dear Residents and friends of Emley Village ,
As our cherished church stands tall, its clock, the heartbeat of our village has fallen silent and still.
The clock, a symbol of shared moments, has weathered the years with us. Now, it calls out for our support. Its chimes have marked weddings, consoled grieving hearts, and signaled moments of joy and reflection. Yet, without repair, its voice will remain silenced and it’s hands still, and our community will lose a vital part of its identity.
We now find ourselves at a crossroads. We want to keep the church open and warm throughout daylight hours as a Warm Space for the Community to enjoy. Sadly we can no longer afford both the cost of heating the church and repairing the clock.
The repair cost is £6000 and we humbly appeal to your generosity to breathe life back into our clock. A small contribution from each of us will ensure that its familiar chime continues to resonate through our lives, connecting past, present, and future generations.
In the spirit of unity and community please help us raise the funds needed. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to restoring the heartbeat of our village.
With heartfelt gratitude,
St. Michael’s Church, Emley

8 months agoYour very generous donations will enable us to replace the Going Automatic Winding Unit to the clock which failed. There are two Automatic Winding Units in the clock, with the second enabling the striking of the clock on the hour. Both Units were fitted in 1993 and it seems likely that the striking unit will fail too. We are aiming therefore to replace both units. Each one costs c.£3000. We thank everyone for their generosity and will continue to fund raise so hopefully we can complete the full upgrade of the clock.
