Story
Please support the England Junior Men's Curling Team - talented young players from Kent and East Sussex who are committed to competing internationally for England.
Skip Jake Barker (Cranbrook), Joe Sugden and Felix Price (Crowborough), Ben Holley (Staplehurst) and Henry Brown (Tenterden) make up the England Junior Men’s Curling Team and play at Fentons Curling Rink, Tunbridge Wells. At the 2016 World Junior-B Curling Championships in Finland, this Team played together for the first time and achieved a very credible 12th place out of 24 teams.
The Team is now looking for support for the 2016-17 season as they prepare to go to Sweden in January for the World Junior-B Curling Championships. Preparation for the trip to Sweden has included a Summer Junior Team Curling Camp in Holland, Elite Junior Training and Team training and playing in Curling Leagues, Bonspiels and practice matches to gain competition practice.
The Team is grateful this year to receive support from:
• World Curling Federation which paid for the Summer Curling Camp and flights to Sweden.
• English Curling Association which paid for the coach’s flights to Sweden.
• Kent & Sussex Junior Curling Club which has given the Team £150 towards its Sweden trip.
• The Team’s coach, Jonathan Havercroft, who gives a huge amount of his time and travel for free.
The bulk of the funds for the Team, up until now, has come from parents and self-funding for national kit, the coach’s travel/accommodation for Holland and accommodation in Sweden, their accommodation in Sweden, competition entry fees, league fees, ice practice fees, travel and Team members’ own kit – curling shoes, trousers and brooms.
In order to continue improving and work towards playing for England in the World Junior Curling Championships (the ‘A’ league), the Team is looking for, and would be extremely grateful to receive, any amount of financial support that you might be able to give.
Thank you.

I am the mother of Skip, Jake Barker, who has been curling since he was 12. I am trying to raise some much needed financial support for the Team.
