    Story

Rebecca and phil have both done a lot for the local community both in fund raising for local people and in doing things for local businesses. Well they are now in need of some local community help. Their youngest child Evan has been taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting with a very serious and fairly rare condition known as HLH. This is a condition where the immune system becomes over active and starts damaging the internal workings of the body including the vital organs, blood cells bone cells and much much more. Evan is going to need a lot of treatment and he will be in hospital for quite some time. This will have a big affect on them all as a family. The financial cost of travelling up there (as only one parent can stay) the cost of parking, the fact that Becky is currently unable to work, food costs plus lots more underlying costs that you may not even think about. A few people close to Becky have already kindly put money into a collection and there is a collection bucket in the Cinque Ports pub in Romney Highstreet (where Becky works) kindly set up by the owners Sarah and Kevin Gibbons. However a few people have suggested setting up a justgiving page......so here it is. Please share this page with as many people as you can. Donate as much or as little as you want as it will all help. Also we are hoping to raise people's awareness of this condition as it is not a well none disease/illness that can happen to anyone.

So Bec and phil have had more info on Evans condition, he has been formally diagnosed with a condition called xiap HLH deficiency......this has all the same properties as genetic HLH but is much much rarer. He was thought to be able to continue his treatment from home with regular trips to GOSH and WHH however today his levels have dropped and his spleen even more enlarged so the drs are keeping him in. He will need an ultrasound daily blood tests and an MRI scan and once his levels have stabilised he will need a bone marrow transplant.

Today Becky and Phil had the devastating news that Evan has been diagnosed with Primary HLH, this means it is genetic and the whole family need to be tested. He is going to be transferred to GOSH as soon as a bed is available for further treatment. This will include a bone marrow transplant. They have been advised that it is possible he could be in hospital for 6 months to a year.....as you can imagine this is going to be very hard for beck and phil and it is going to be a long long road ahead for them both and their two girls.
