    Story

Cadets and adult volunteers from Cumbria Army Cadet Force (ACF) will deploy on Exercise SIMBA’S SUN in Cyprus from Sat 27 May 17 to Sat 3 Jun 17. This exercise will provide a unique opportunity to experience Adventurous Training (AT) in a foreign country and to see the British Army at work abroad.

Activities will include a three-day expedition to climb Mount Olympus (1,952m), a visit to the Headquarters of the United Nations in Cyprus, a visit to the 1st Battalion of the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment and a day's water-based challenge pursuits.

For many cadets, this will be the first time that they have been outside the United Kingdom. The trip itself will create memories that should inspire them to achieve more with their lives and become responsible and contributing members of society.

I do not want cadets to be unable to take part in this expedition because their parents cannot afford to send them. Hence, I am looking to raise additional funds to cover the expedition costs for up to six cadets, like the young men and women in the photograph.

I hope that these cadets will go on to make a difference to their communities, our county or even their country. Please help fund this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these exceptional young people.
