Story
2016 Simeon Hartwig took a job as football coach and teacher at Craig Ballamy’s Football Foundation in Sierra Leone. The CBF players were training with the aim of turning pro, half of whom played for the national team. As community outreach Simeon and 6 players did a weekly football session for kids from the Orphfund orphanage behind the academy.
2017 Sadly the CBF academy closed. However, the orphanage football sessions continued taken over by the awesome site security guard Lamin Kamara and pretty soon Famalam FC was born. In 2022 there are now Two teams (U18 & U12) made up of the orphanage players but also players from the local area in Tombo The U18 play at a decent standard competing with division 1 teams. It is our aim for the team to enter division 2 by 2022.
In 2023 Money is desperately needed for:
- rice and water (the economy is in a terrible place and the players are hungry..this is actually are priority before football over next few months...its a real crisis.
-Football boots / footballs / clean water for training / food for match day/ Small wage for the coach and coaching assistant / shipping of boots and balls costs
I get daily whatsapp messages/calls from players and coach! The above are what players and coaches in most of the world take for granted...lets help put these rad players and young minds on a slightly more level playing field.
Massive thank you to Mitre and all of you who supported last year! If you are able to donate any amount it is really appreciated and it would be amazing if you could set up a monthly direct so we can guarantee an amount each month. If you are a business and are keen to support as CSR we can look at getting your logo on their kit. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me at simeonhartwig@gmail.com
Thanks for taking time guys.
Famalam Fc xx
