Story

This crowd-giving site represents only a part of what we are doing - please read all about our project in the Parish Hallway. We'll soon be closing this site but there will be other ways to donate.

St Peters RC Church in Bearsted, Kent was built and consecrated in 1984. This year is our 40th Anniversary. To recognise the occasion, we decided to look outwards rather than inwards.

Our 40th Anniversary Project therefore is to help provide essential services for a Parish in a small village called Duayaw Nkwanta in Ghana, where Father Joe is the Parish Priest, and to help them with a new roof for their church and community building, as well as new essential support services. According to Oxfam, 24% of the population in Ghana live in poverty, that is, on less than US$1 per day.

The overall cost of the project will be about £4000, which represents £100 for each year that our Parish has been in existence.

This crowd-giving site isn't the full story. We have already raised over £2000 from events and through direct donations since the start of 2024, plus what's been raised on this site. We're on track to reach our target but we still need your help!
